I had a major problem with my new HP x360 trackpad being too sensitive using trackpad taps. I almost took it back, as it was constantly registering UNDESIRED mouse clicks whenever my finger came close to the trackpad.
Unfortunately, the folks at Synaptics don’t have enough sense to offer a method to govern how much pressure is necessary to register a “click” when tapping (geez come on that ain’t rocket science) so the only thing left to do is TURN OFF TAPPING by unchcecking the tapping box. As long as the “Click” box is still checked – and it has to be if you turn off tapping – you can now just use “clicks” on your trackpad.
Control Panel -> Mouse -> Trackpad -> Turn Off Taps (uncheck)
