On top of making sure the device (your microphone) is enabled in device manager, or found if it is a blue-tooth microphone or blue-tooth head phones with a microphone built in, do this:
To let apps access the microphone, select Start ,then select Settings > Privacy > Microphone . Select Change, then turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.
Most devices are enabled by default when drivers are installed.
