EC2 stop and start versus reboot
To help understand some of the behavior of EC2 features it is good to know this from AWS documentation:
"When an instance is stopped and then restarted, it will be moved to new hardware. When an instance is rebooted, it stays on the hardware on which it was provisioned."
For example why EC2 storage of type instance store, is lost after an instance stop but retained after reboot.
