Maximum size MySQL databases / instances on ECS not RDS
Well if you did go the simple route and use RDS for MySQL the current maximum is 6TB.
To increase that limit within AWS you can install MySQL on EC2 using EBS GP2 (SSD based) volumes.
The limit is 16TB per EBS volume – UNLESS – you use RAID 0 stripping then depending on your stripe width (eg 2,3,4 etc) you can increase this limit by multiples of the stripe width – 32TB, 48TB, 64TB etc.
