Yep. We’ve probably all run into those “chirpy” little b….s.
What do you do when it is not just a battery that needs changing?
I’ve had to swap out old smoke alarms at least a couple times in my life and I keep forgetting the secret.
So, I’m going to write it down this time.
- unscrew from ceiling, and pinch the sides of the connector to disconnect power from the recepticle
- remove battery from the OLD one that you just took out of the ceiling and set on the table (removing the battery is critical as a faulty smoke alarm will keep making the rest of them chirp)
- put up a new smoke alarm with a new battery
- repeat steps 1 through 3 for all smoke alarms
Good luck with those little b…s.
