Adding a new Cox VCR to your setup – if your remote is in a mode the VCR doesn’t like it will not respond.
For example, after the cox VCR boots, it will prompt you for English etc. only there are no buttons on the Cox box itself so… if you are lucky and your remote is in the same mode the VCR wants – you just push Ok on the remote.
But what is the OK button does not work? In other words the VCR can’t talk to the remote.
On your Cox remote pointed at your Cox box… Press and hold the setup button (bottom right) until the red light at the top of the remote turns green then:
type: 987 or 981
to get the box to see your cox remote.
This is no where in the directions, or anywhere online that I can see. 2nd Cox technician knew about it, 1st didn’t know and wasted 2 hours of my time… Cox please train your technical support personnel…
Here’s something about in a forum from 4 years ago, apparently the remote can be in IR or RF modes and pressing 987 and or 981 switches the remote back and forth into the mode the VCR wants… IR… I guess. thanks Cox…
