Nope don’t use it for mission critical Oracle databases if you value the DB… VDP has to quiesce (stop / silence) the DB – and this can cause performance and in my case – control file and eventually redolog corruption. Location of listener.ora and or tnsnames.ora

Location of listener.ora and or tnsnames.ora Normally located at: $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin But at least on older AIX and Solaris boxes may be at: /var/opt/oracle — with a link in /etc But you can put it where you want it by exporting TNS_ADMIN.
